While the rest of the showbiz world has been wildly speculating about their imminent demise, ONE DIRECTION have been secretly doing what they do best – making sweet music together.
I’ve learned that the world’s biggest band have just gone back into the studio to start making their fifth album.
They’ve been working on new tracks with regular collaborators Wayne Hector and Julian Bunetta.
Until now, Harry Style, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson have been coy about their plans.
But all going to plan it’s possible they’ll be able to release their next pop monster in time for Christmas, just like they have for the past four years.
Last night my 1D source revealed: “There has been a bit of a question about the timing of the fifth album but there was never any doubt it would be released, despite the ridiculous speculation.
“Initially the guys thought they might want more time away from the studio because they’ve been busy promoting Four.
“But they’ve been itching to get back recording again because it’s what they love to do, so it’s full steam ahead.”
The lads will continue to work with some favourite collaborators including Wayne — co-writer of songs such as Best Song Ever and Steal My Girl — and Julian, who worked on tracks like Night Changes and You And I.
Wayne recently confirmed that he’s about to be in full-on 1D mode, saying: “I’m finishing off some songs with SIGMA then I’m going to start writing for the new One Direction album.
“I’m really looking forward to it — they’re always great to work with.”
The band are also likely to go off individually or in pairs to work with other writers and producers.
My band insider added: “It’s a formula that’s worked before and it’s how the lads like to work.
“The reality is that after nearly five years together they are very much in control of their sound and the process.”
One man who will be very happy about 1D’s work ethic is SIMON COWELL.
Four has been another massive commercial success, filling the coffers of his Syco label.
