Jake Bugg’s continued attacking One Direction last night by suggesting they aren’t really a “band”.
A spat began last week when Jake expressed his disgust at people referring to the quintet – who won the Global Success award at the Brits – as “the new Beatles” in a magazine interview.
But it raged on further at the NME Awards in London when the indie star criticised the lads once again.
When he was asked if he was pleased the band won the Worst Band prize, he said: “I don’t know how they can really be considered a band though to be honest.
“I’m not too sure. I think the more I play on it, it’ll wind them up.”
When pressed further he said: “They’re there to look good. Music wise? I assume they don’t really have a clue. We’ll just see. They might do.”
When questioned about Harry Styles’ Villain Of The Year win he continued: “Probably the ugliest one is the best singer. He might know a couple of chords.”
Jake then ruled out the chance of working with the pop fivesome in the future.
He said: “No (that won’t happen). That should be their job, not mine.”
Despite Jake being up for an award in the Best Solo Artist and Best Album categories at last night’s NME Awards he walked away empty-handed.
